Activities

Skiing at Jakobshorn

The Jakobshorn in Davos has always been a little bit different to the other mountains in the Alps. It’s no surprise when you consider that the world's first T-bar chairlift was installed at the Bolgen as far back as 1934, making Davos a winter sports pioneer. This place has been home to the freestyle scene since the 1980s. Back then, the Jakobshorn was the only mountain where snowboarders were allowed to use the lifts. Today, the Jakobshorn is famed for its 55 km of slopes ranging from blue to black, its après-ski parties and crazy events such as the Red Bull Homerun. In short: this is a mountain where life is celebrated to the max.

Cross-country skiing

Cross-country skiing is considered the healthiest sport in the world. With a little bit of momentum and the use of the poles, almost all muscles of the body are evenly stressed. More than 100 kilometres of classic and 75 kilometres of skating slopes in Davos Klosters provide boundless variety. Slow, boring, without action? Anyone who associates leisurely cross-country skiing with leisurely seniors' sport has probably never done a few kilometres on narrow cross-country skis themselves. There is hardly a more sweat-inducing winter sport. This also applies to health: when cross-country skiing, the use of the poles puts an even strain on many muscles of the body. Beginners and ambitious sportsmen and women will get their money's worth on the various trails in Davos Klosters.

Snowshoe hiking

Do you like hiking and snow? Then you should go on a snowshoe hike. Especially in Davos Klosters, where snowshoeing is still almost considered an insider tip. Snowshoeing is booming. No wonder: The best way to get to where the snow-covered mountains of Davos Klosters are at their most unspoilt is on snowshoes. By the way, if you can walk, you can also snowshoe. Simply strap the snowshoes under your winter boots, take the poles in your hand and the adventure in Davos Klosters starts practically from the hotel door - from the summit tour to the leisurely hike on the valley floor.

Bavarian Curling

Bavarian curling is one of the oldest winter sports in the world. In the 16th century it was primarily farmers and craftsmen who ventured onto the ice and passed the winter days in this way. The sport requires that the ice stock (or Bavarian curling stone) glide across the ice. In terms of equipment it is recommended that leather-soled shoes are not worn. Bavarian curling explained in brief: The aim of Bavarian curling is to position the team's ice stocks as close to the tee as possible over the course of 6 rounds. This requires a great deal of patience on the ice! After all, who doesn't enjoy knocking the opponent out of play shortly before they win the game?
